Giclee Print of a Tui

I spent the weekend creating a mixed media illustration of a Tui, which is a native New Zealand bird. I combined my original pen and ink drawing with an abstract painting incorporating fern and kowhai leaves (kowhai are the bright yellow flowers that the tui eats nectar from). I created more solid colours behind the pen and ink using Adobe Illustrator then added some watercolour to some tracing paper, scanned it and used it to overlay these colours and add depth.

Here is a more thorough explanation of the process http://www.squidoo.com/creating-a-mixed-media-illustration

I picked up a giclee print of it today – I’m really happy with the result, so now I’ll carry on with the set and start selling prints (hopefully!). For the time being I have cards for sale here

Thanks for reading,
